Another House

Good morning, evening or whatever, wherever you are!  I want to share with you this card I made using  another favourite MIC image , an oldie but a goodie, the Fairy Tree House .  This  really caught my eye when someone used it on a card and I've loved it ever since!

I added a chipboard swirl, coloured with pencil then stickled , and some delicate corner chipboard in its natural state.

I used some MME paper distressed on the edges, flowers and mesh/ribbon from my stash. The  digital image is printed onto SU Kraft paper and coloured with Faber Castell polychromo pencils. I added and merged a piece of the Daffodil Dell background , just to add some more flowers to the scene.

Boys in Training

We're all set for a long weekend of jumpers agility in Wanganui this weekend, just hope it doesn't rain. Riley doesn't like getting wet! LOL!  And he's my main man at agility now as Vinnie has got pretty slow in old age and Brodie....welll Brodie  has a style all of his own. He switches off his ears and run willy nilly around the course, jumping whatever he sees, and tunnels...well he can't resist tunnels, sometimes going through them multiple times ! LMAO! And what makes it worse, I can't yelll at him as I'm still on half voice mode , so he'll be running FREEEEEEEEEEEE! Yipeeeeeeeee!

Metallic Chippies

We all know and love the MIC chipboard bits and pieces and there are so many ways to use them. You can colour them with inks, paints, stickles etc but one of my favourite techniques is heat embossing them. They look so cool and are great for finishing off any project.  Embossing powders come in all sorts but my favourites are the metallic look ones, which turn your chippies into little metal embellies! Yay!

For this project  I've created a basic tutorial

Firstly, very carefully cut down through the tiny tabs on the chipboard with a craft knife, don't try to push them out

I'ved used a versamark stamp pad to ready the chipboard for the powder

As you can see, my versamark pad is marked and stained, but all I use it for is embossing, so its not a problem!  Make sure there is a good coating of versamark or embossing pen or whatever you use on the pieces.  Then either pour the powder over the surface or as I prefer to, put them face down into the powder, which I keep in small flat containers for this purpose and it makes clean up so much easier.

Then turn on the heat!   I use a heat gun, as do most people. Make sure to hold the pieces down with tweezers or something similar or you'll lose them.

Aren't they cool? !!!

Now I made a little box following a You tube  tutorial by Tracy  Loves to Scrap so I won't go into the details but I used black card stock and some Graphic 45 steampunk paper, some nestability dies for some shapes and this is what it looks like.

Added the chipboard corners

And I used a chipboard filigree centre that I don't think is available anymore but you could use one of the fancy ribbon sliders or a mix & match centre. This I also embossed, then stuck a dew drop on it.   To make it act as a closure, I glued on a magnetic clasp underneath

Then finally some coloured chippie leaves, flowers, some mesh ribbon, and some butterflies also heat embossed.

And there we have a gorgeous little gift box !

All about the boys

Yep, this fortnight for Southern Girls, we have the dreaded boys cards/pages/whatever....always so hard to do, no flowers, frills , blah, blah. I find its best to go DIRTY cos boys are dirty right?!!!  LOL!
By that I mean distressing and inking, no matter what you were thinking.......hey that rhymes, aren't I clever!
So we have 4 sponsors this time around and I've used a cute stamp from Marianne Designs, called Soccer Don.   I'm loving these Marianne stamps !

I've used BG paper and embellies from my stash . Don is coloured with copics.

A Favoutite

I thought I’d share one of my absolute favourite Make it Crafty images. The very first time I came across MIC was when someone posted a card made with one of the gorgeous whimsical houses . I couldn’t resist hopping straight over to the store and buying a few and the Mushroom house has to be one of my favourites, especially for making ” Welcome to your new home” cards!

I thought a pencil coloured one, just for a change!!! so I coloured with prismas and polychromos onto kraft. The paper is Prima Fairy Flora, with some  mesh and a key charm from my stash. The sentiment I created in word, after finally figuring out how to get the spacing to suit! Took a while, but realised using individual text boxes and text wrapping, I could put what I wanted where I wanted. Yay!

To round out the scene I actually added Daffodil dell digi onto each side of the house digi, by merging them in Word.

To finish off this adorable setting what could be better than some MIC dragonflies and a butterfly coloured with copic R27 then stickled, and roundleaf chippies which I coloured with copics G99.

A Cute doggie

I made this card a wee while ago , after my pencils arrived and I spent hours playing with them. This gorgeous little dog is a Chrissy Armstrong stamp from Whimsy , cute huh?

The copper foil I ran through my cuttlebug with an embossing folder, the gorgeous delicate chipboard corners are from Make it Crafty ( I'm trying to stop hoarding these, I love them!) The flowers are from my stash.

I've been unwell the last few weeks, started with a cold and a hoarse voice, which led over Easter weekend to a total loss of voice....and its still (2 weeks later) no more than a squawk and squeak with the occasional burst of sound. Everyone thinks its hilarious and the jokes are flying about how quiet it is, and everyone must be loving it....yeh, yeh, whatever! The doctor's instructions were to keep my mouth shut, no mouth breathing, no talking, no whispering......have you ever tried it? IMPOSSIBLE!
So if anyone finds my voice out there....please send it back, I'm REALLY over this!

Fairy Dahlia

This is  my first time colouring the gorgeous Fairy Dahlia and she is sitting on the fairy chair, both available from Make it Crafty.

I merged these two digis using word, Zoe has a great tutorial on doing this and its SOOOOO easy!   Anyway, I printed onto kraft cardstock  so that I could have another play with my new polychromos pencils, did I mention I have 120 of them? LOL!   I’m having so much fun with them my copics are being neglected.

Anyway, I’ve used some gorgeous prima paper and edged all the pieces with picket fence distress crackle paint, before layering the pieces, with some bits of muslin cloth. The flowers are all from my stash. The chipboard corners I left plain this time to try and balance out the kraft paper a bit. I adore these corners as they finish off a card so nicely.

The Whimsy garden stamp I’ve  stamped onto white cardstock and sprayed with 2 colours of glimmermist to blend in with the backing papers.

And there we have it, a sweet girly card . Hope you find a little inspiration in this.

Fancy folds

The challenge over at Southern Girls is to use fancy folds, ie not your normal plain card.   I decided to make a stair step card, because I've never done one before.

The image is One of the pack ( Lycaonia)  from delicious Doodles, the paper I can't remember....its from my stash anyway!  As is the seam binding ehich I hand-dyed with distress inks.  The dark brown metal strip is from Ten Second studio, I love this stuff but hardly ever use it!

I've been at home the last couple of days, with severe laryngitis. No real sore throat, just no voice.  Never had it like this before, I sound like a chipmunk who has been inhaling helium! Squeak, squeak!  The dogs love it, they can ignore me, and I'm sure DH is loving it too, soooo quiet! LOL!

Sew it

Well I had to get the sewing machine out to do some alterations on new pants for DH and decided while it was out to have a play with sewing some cards too.  Its really not a biggie to set it up but I guess I'm lazy and don't usually bother. Anyway, this cutie image is from Marianne Design and she is called Sweet Daisy.

The paper is MME and the gorgeous chipboard frame is from Make it Crafty and can be found HERE

Big Boys

A card for a teenage boy , don't you just hate them?  This card was sooooooo hard to put together and I don't like it that much but what can ya do?  At least he's a cool surfer dude (from Mo Manning) , and the paper looks suitably dirty! LOL!

I'm entering this in Waste Not Wednesday challenge- the paper I've had for years and years, the hardware is SU stuff I've had forever .

Brodie

Our boy is on the mend! Yay!  A week of antibiotics stopped the spread of his icky lip and started to heal it, and the addition of steroids on Thursday made a huge difference almost overnight. He's going to be his handsome self again in no time! He even had a play date with Solly this week to cheer him up.

And Riley, my little agility star, won 2 silver medals at the Taranaki Masters games  Dog Agility last Sunday!  Go wee gingernut!

Brodie's afternoon out

Poor Brods is a bit under the weather and  had his playdate cancelled yesterday cos he suddenly developed a very red, sore top lip and we didn't want to risk him hurting himself. He's on antibiotics.....if they don't work then further investigations will be necessary and that means a general anaesthetic for a biopsy.  We felt sorry for him and since it was such a lovely day, we took him for a bit of a blat down the beach.

Check out his poor sore face.....

Red Blue & yellow

Southern Girls have a new challenge up and we want you to use the colours red, blue and yellow.    And we have FOUR sponsors this time around and I've used a Marianne Design stamp and some Marianne Dies for my card, as they are one of the sponsors for the challenge.   I' m loving these stamps , some real cuties!  I've coloured my image with my new polychromo pencils....yes, my copics are being neglected :(  .   The paper I've used is just scraps from my pile...not sure what they are.

A simple card

This is a quick card I made for a friend who competes and judges in the Dog Agility scene in NZ. Last weekend he had a tragic fire in his house which claimed the life of his adored agility dog, 7 year old Rapid. He was away for the day, at a dog show and Rapid was left at home in a crate, still recovering from surgery .  It was a shock to everyone of course but most of all to him. Last year he and his two dogs walked 2325 km around the South Island in 69 days , raising more than $22,000 for Cancer support.

RIP Rapid.

Not a card but I've been playing

At last! A chance to play with my 120 polychromo pencils!   I'm in LUUUURRRRVE!   And I'm too busy to make a card, I have more images to colour! And I need lots of practice. Hehehehe!

This week at Make it Colourful, the challenge is to colour with green.   Don't forget this is a colouring challenge, it doesn't have to be a card or other project. You can see what the DT have done if you pop over to the gallery HERE.

Did ya miss me?

We left home Monday morning after dropping off two of the dogs ( Vinnie goes with mama!)  to their babysitters, headed off in Bryan ,the Kombi,  for a trip around the East Cape of NZ.   Got as far as Waverley when we started to notice engine problems  ( that's only 30 minutes from home!) which then came right, until Marton when he decided to stop on us.  A few minutes mucking around, restarted , drove to an auto electrician, fitted a new coil and we were off again! Yay!

First night at Kuripapango, a beautiful doc camping spot beside the Ngaruroro river , no one there but us! The next morning to Napier, called in to see my brother & his wife and their son and his new dog. What a cutie Speedy is!
Then on to Wairoa, a night at Mum's, caught up with another brother, then headed off to our next overnight stop at Anaura Bay via Tolaga Bay and a walk along its wharf.   The next day it was on through Tokomaru bay, another wharf visit, Waipiro Bay, lunch at Te Araroa where there was a huge contingent of police with plane and helicopter for their marijuana search! LOL! A quick visit to Lottin Point then the night was spent at Waihau Bay, beside the hotel and store where the movie " Boy" was filmed.
We headed off early , stopped to take some pics of the church at Raukokore where the penguins nest

We were intending staying a night at Lake Whakamaru when we got there but a check of the weather on the internet warned us of the nasty weather heading our way so we packed up and took off, driving into increasing rain and decreasing temps, but luckily no wind at that stage.  That hit in the early hours of this morning while we were lying in bed , very glad we were home and not in the van , and hoping our roof stayed on !  The garden is a bit worse for wear, branches down, plants flattened , and most of the ripening pears on the tree are now on the ground! Grrrr!  Brodie likes that though,  yummmmmmmmmm!  Tasty treats!!!!!
